MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY

TAGEM is the research organisation of Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. TAGEM conducts and funds agricultural research projects. There are 48 research institutes and 2,111 researchers of TAGEM throughout Turkey which conduct research on plant breeding and agronomy, plant health, livestock breeding and husbandry, animal health, aquaculture and fisheries, food and feed, soil and water resources, biodiversity, and agricultural economy. TAGEM has projects, collaborations, and memberships on national and international levels.

TAGEM has 48 research institutes focusing on different fields of agricultural research. One of these institutes is the Apiculture Research Institute, which conducts research on all subjects related to apiculture. Besides this institute, some other institutes of TAGEM also have experts working on apiculture. There have been many projects completed by these institutes on apiculture. The experts in the institutes have experience and knowledge on the subject, enabling them to prepare and implement training programs.

Key personnel:

  • Ahmet BUDAKLIER is a food engineer with 19 years of experience. He has been working at the food and feed research department of TAGEM for more than 13 years as the coordinator of animal-originated foods. Before that, he was in the inspection section of the Ministry. He has responsibilities in both national and international projects. He is interested in food production sustainability, traditional foods, and novel technologies in food production. He is the national representative of Turkey in the SUSFOOD2 ERA-Net Co-fund and SCAR Food SWG. He has experience in the Erasmus+ KA2 program and has completed 8 KA2 projects. He has close contact with TAGEM institutes and has the profile information of researchers who can implement training programs.
  • Şeref Tepe is the coordinator of the animal-oriented foods department. He is a food engineer (MSc) working at the Ministry for 32 years. He has worked in different parts of the Ministry and was one of the former directors of the Central Research Institute of Food and Feed Research. He is an expert in honey and bee products and has completed an extensive national project on pine honey.
  • Fazıl Güney is a food engineer (MSc) working at the Apiculture Research Institute since 2005. He is the Head of the Food Technology Department, which has an accredited laboratory investigating quality parameters of bee products. He is carrying out his PhD program at Ordu University. He has completed many projects related to apiculture.
  • Mustafa Kösoğlu is an agricultural engineer (MSc) working at the Aegean Agricultural Research Institute since 2013. He is an expert in honey and bee products. He has completed many research projects related to apiculture, some of which focus especially on royal jelly.
